Step-by-step help for using canary.
Payments
Paying for your order
Paying on canary is designed to be simple and safe. You can pay by card, and at some pharmacies you can also choose Afterpay.
Paying by card
At checkout, the Pay with card section asks for your card holder name, card number, expiry date and security code (CVC). Your card details are handled by a secure payment provider — canary never stores your full card number.
The most important thing to know: you are not charged when you place your order. Your card is only charged once the pharmacy confirms your order — and if the pharmacy needs to change anything, you'll be asked to accept the changes first. So there are no surprises.
Paying with Afterpay
Where your pharmacy offers it, you'll see the Afterpay option at checkout, letting you split your payment into instalments. The Afterpay flow works a little differently:
- Choose Afterpay at checkout and confirm with Yes, pay with Afterpay to submit your order.
- Once the pharmacy confirms your order, you'll receive an email to finalise your payment with Afterpay.
- Complete the payment through Afterpay, and your order continues as normal.
Afterpay has a maximum order amount that varies by pharmacy. If your total is over the limit, you'll see a message letting you know — you can pay by card instead, or choose a different pharmacy.
If a payment doesn't go through
Occasionally a card payment fails — often due to a typo, an expired card or insufficient funds. You'll see a clear message, and you can simply check your details and try again. If it keeps happening, your bank is the best first call, and the canary team can help from there.
