Installing the app

You can add canary to your phone or tablet's home screen, so it opens with one tap just like a regular app. There's nothing to download from an app store — it installs straight from your browser.

The install banner

When you visit the site, you may see a small banner inviting you to install the app, with an Install app button. Tap it and follow the prompt from your device. If you tap Not now, the banner politely stays away for a while.

Bringing the prompt back

Changed your mind, or dismissed the banner by accident? You can re-open it any time:

Sign in to canary.
Open the account menu in the top corner of the page.
Select Install app. The install prompt will appear again.

This menu item is hidden once the app is already installed and you're using it from your home screen.

On iPhone or iPad

Apple devices install a little differently. The prompt will show you these steps:

Tap the Share button in Safari.
Choose Add to Home Screen.
Tap Add to finish.

On other devices

If your browser doesn't show its own install dialog, you'll see simple manual steps instead: open your browser's menu (usually three dots) or look for an install icon in the address bar, then choose Install app or Add to Home screen and confirm.

If you don't see an install option at all, the app may already be installed, or your browser may not support installing — everything still works perfectly in the browser.
